Description

The Northeast Water Resources Research Sub-Network, Rede Águas NE, is a research network associated with OndaCBC that aims to contribute to: i) the preservation of water quality in urban and rural ecosystems; and ii) universal and equitable access to drinking water and sanitation, particularly in the Caatinga biome in the semiarid region of Northeast Brazil. In the context of the water, energy and food production nexus, Rede Águas NE aims to develop low-cost technologies for retention, storage, recycling and reuse of rainwater and wastewater in urban and rural areas.

The main objective of the sub-network is to promote the development and implementation of technological and sustainable solutions for the preservation, management and efficient use of water resources in the Brazilian Northeast, with a focus on water quality in urban and rural ecosystems, ensuring equitable access to drinking water and sanitation, especially in the Caatinga biome, and strengthening the nexus between water, energy and food production.
