Description

Since the 1960s, a technology has emerged and established itself until it is mature today: PHOTONICS. Its evolution was explosive with the generation of coherent light via LASERS - Light Amplification by Stimulated Emitted Radiation.

It was crucial for the NIST–ONDACBC to incorporate it and use it in agriculture and the environment, making it part of its technological portfolio. It is strategic and will benefit Brazilian society.

The initiative, as a sub-network of OndaCBC, aims to strengthen Agrophotonics in Brazil, especially in the Caatinga biome, through research focused on the application of photonics in agriculture, the environment and agro-industry. It also aims to encourage open innovation projects with companies and startups to integrate new photonic technologies into the productive sector.

Currently, the network has 5 researchers: 2 undergraduates, 2 doctoral students and 1 post–doc.
